Wanted to give you an update on Jacob and to thank you for the role you played in making him such a successful kid.
Jacob just finished his Freshman year at the University of Oregon in Eugene. He made the Dean’s List and is working on a double major – Business and Spanish with a minor in Psychology. He’s 19 now – I think he was about 5 when he first walked into your dojo.
To say that you were his idol is an understatement. As you walked him thru getting his belts, you not only told him what to do, but demonstrated the moves to him. Learning karate under you gave him so much confidence and truly boosted his self-esteem. That confidence filtered into all aspects of his life. In high school, he played soccer and their team placed 2nd in state! He graduated with honors because you told him he could do anything he wanted if he worked hard and put his mind to it. You were always so positive and encouraging.
As he goes into his Sophomore year at college this Fall, I just wanted to take the opportunity to say “thank you” to you for your part in his continued success. They say it takes a village to raise a child – thank you for being a huge part of that village.
Sincerely,
Tara Brown.
